To my friends and their friends and family in the USA: stand up against blatant corruption, greed and power grabs. Fight the corrosion of your democracy and the rise of authoritarianism and fascism in the “land of the free”.

    Strangely enough, we’ve been celebrating “No Kings” every year on the 4th of July 😉

    On a side note, if we in the USA had a king, he would probably ban marches against himself.

      The Americans just need to wait a little longer without taking back control of your country and they would yearn for an actual king instead of having a dictator ruling over them and democracy lost to indifference.

        Americans are in control of our country. The current president was elected by the majority of the voters. During the previous administration, again, elected by a majority of voters, we experienced the chaos of crime, open borders, and mental incompetence. Every four years we get to say “oops, that didn’t work”, or “let’s do that again”.

        And the party out of power gets to gripe, bitch, moan, and (lately) attempt to assassinate those in power. Not ideal, but the price of freedom. Remember, we are a republic not a democracy.

          At the moment, there are more attempts to silence (or assasinate) those not in power.
          If you have any knowledge of the state of the trias politica in your country right now, you should admit that the checks and balances are in severe danger.
          What do you think about Trump 2028?
          So no, it’s not business as usual.

            The assassination attempts that come to mind are those against Trump and Kavanaugh; and the successful assassination of Charlie Kirk. That seems pretty one-sided.

            Trump 2028? You are aware he is a master troll, right? Although, I think he should start politicking for UN Secretary General 😉

                Please. Who was silenced for talking critically about Trump – unless it was a lie. He’s made several millions suing the MSM outlets for slander, etc. Turn on any news show and listen to the invective. Silencing or cancelling is a predominantly leftist action.

                  I guess you haven’t been following the news lately. Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, rings a bell?
                  Using the term MSM and calling criticizing (or ridiculing) Trump slander makes me not want to take you seriously.
                  We here in Europe call that freedom of speech.
                  I guess in your eyes all the hate mongering from the (far) right is allowed and doesn’t invoke violence?

          You’re so wrong on all points, pal.
          I am not going to make this page a forum for political discussions however. It is my blog, these are my statements to make, and you are free to disagree of course, but I will not go into a discussion with MAGA fans on my own turf. Not as long as MAGA denies me to get an entry visa to the USA simply because I spit at Trump and his following.

            You are entitled (metaphorically) to spit on whomever you wish. The Secretary of State is allowed to deny visa’s to whomever is deemed hostile to our country.

            It would seem to me that you Europeans, having had time to experience that hostility first hand from your recent influx, might understand that position.

              And how would you feel if you weren’t allowed to enter Europe because you’re pro Trump? Especially if you have family there. Why is somebody hostile to your country if he/she criticizes Trump?
              I’m appalled by how easy you condone dictatorial tendencies.

    Totally expected replies from a MAGA cultist with fascist mindset. Completely and consciously blind to everything that conflicts with his world view.
    Hillary Clinton may have been politically incorrect and it cost her the presidency but from my bird’s eye view on the USA I think she was correct in calling out half of the US population as deplorable.
    I am going to close the comments section and preserve the dialog for posterity.
